Basil was surrendered with her mom and 3 other siblings to our rescue. The little family was living in the backyard in their previous home with little human interaction. All 5 of them have come a along ways since joining our rescue and are adjusting nicely in their foster homes. Here are some facts you need to know about Basil to make sure she is the right fit for your family:
> Basil is great with other dogs, big or small
> Basil is good with cats
> Basil is good with children of all ages as long as they give her space and respect
> Basil is working on her potty training and it is getting better every day
> Basil is crate trained
> Basil has learned to walk on a leash
> Basil enjoys going for walks with her canine foster brother Louie
> Dog Parks are an absolute NO for her
> Running off leash in an unfenced yard is an absolute NO for her
Basil is adjusting well in her foster home but the outside world is still a scary place for her. The adopter needs to be aware that it will take time and work to get Basil adjusted slowly in her new world.
Basil opens up and becomes playful when around other dogs so we require that her adoptive home has other playful and well adjusted dogs who can be a role model for Basil to learn from.
We do not require a fenced yard as long as the adopter can provide sufficient exercise. However, if fenced the fence needs to be a minimum of 5' high as she will be able to jump a lower fence if spooked.
Basil is an absolute sweetheart and will make a wonderful companion if taken the time to make her understand that this world is not such a scary place afterall. We promise, you will love her!
