Message from Eric (1/3/20):

Hi! My name is Eric. I am a mix of American Staffordshire Terrier and Beagle and I am almost 5 months old.  You can see the picture of me and my current roommates on my webpage. We are really good friends and they have taught me a lot of good things and some not so good things! Let’s just say our play time brings out the Beagle in me and I let loose with the song of my people. It makes the hoomans  laugh! We also have cats here so, I am learning to be a ‘kitty wrangler!’ It’s true what they say about herding cats but, I’m getting better at it. I know they have pointy claws so, I give them plenty of space and try not to make them mad.  I try to follow their lead and be a respectful roomie. I am a quick learner that way. AND…I will do almost anything for treats! Some of my repertoire includes, Bed Time, Sit, Shake, Touch, Leave It, Drop and Down. I have been working on other stuff but these are my specialties right now.  I also sleep in my own room at night and understand that it is “My Room.” So when they tell me “Eric, go to your room” I’m there! I love to meet new people, big and small. My foster mom is teaching me to sit and offer my paw when I meet new folks and say “hi, how’re you doing, my name is Eric” or “thank you.” Now for the ‘dark side’ of puppyhood…I am still working on my potty training skills. First thing in the morning and last thing before bedtime, I always go potty outside. It’s just that during the day, a puppy gets sidetracked by playtime with friends, kitty wrangling, naptime, stuff going on outside and all those other things puppies get distracted with. But I am making an effort…some things just take time! If you have time for me, have your people contact my people! Hope to see you around the adoption circuit but, don’t wait too long!

This puppy was born in an animal shelter and then came to us with mom and littermates at about two weeks of age. The pups and mom went into a loving foster home together, and then the pups went into individual foster homes when they were old enough to be weaned. Consequently, they have been well socialized in a home environment. Mom is a fairly small (45 pound) American Bully (a type of short, stout pittie) and dad is unknown. We do not know how big the pups will be as adults, but chances are they will roughly medium sized, since mom is petite.
We are taking applications on the pups now, and they're attending adoption events to meet potential families. They'll be able to go to their forever homes once they're spayed/neutered, microchipped and finish their puppy shots around the third week of November.
WE ADOPT ONLY TO HOMES IN VIRGINIA, MARYLAND AND DC.
